To place an order, send an email and include a list of the plants you’re interested in. The ordering process will likely be a back-and-forth exchange, as I check my stock and verify availability. I will not ask for payment until I’ve verified that I can provide the plants you want; and I take checks, cash, or venmo.
If you’d like to browse my plant stand, please first check the home page (or contact me) to see whether it’s open. Generally, the stand will be open May-June and September-November; and it’s open dawn to dusk, 24/7, barring extreme weather events. The stand is usually self-serve.
Once you’ve confirmed that the stand is open, just stop by anytime – no need to arrange a time with me! I’m on the 400 block of East Lakeview Avenue (not West Lakeview Ave – people have made that mistake before…), in the Lake Edge neighborhood of Madison, Wisconsin (far east side, near the YMCA and Pinney Library). You will be able to find me by driving down the block and looking for my sign, but if you would like an exact address, I’d be happy to email it to you – just ask!
When you come, be sure to bring sun or rain protection (the stand is open to the elements). There will be a Venmo link at the stand; if you’d rather pay with cash, bring small bills if you can – you will not be able to make change (although I’m willing to work with you to even things out afterward; send me a note and we’ll figure it out!).
I also recommend bringing some kind of box for the plants you might purchase: I try to keep a stock of cardboard boxes and plant trays available, but sometimes they run out.
Finally, if you aren’t very familiar with native plants, consider bringing your phone so you can look them up while you’re browsing. Not all native species are adapted to a standard residential yard: some need lots of water (think of rain gardens), some only thrive in sandy soil, and some can be too aggressive for small spaces. Don’t get me wrong – there are TONS of native species that are perfect for your yard, and most of the plants I carry will do great in a typical garden! But I’d hate for you to go home with something that isn’t going to work.
I try to have a bit of information posted next to each species, and if the weather allows I’ll have some guidebooks available to browse; but sometimes you just need the internet!
